I look into my worm bin and marvel at how this subterranean creative community converts scrap into healthy soil where a world of possibilities can grow. In the drawing Who’s in the Worm Bin, I bring the wriggle of worms to our scale. Who’s in our creative community? Who are we working with to create healthy soil? These questions work for artists and educators. The worms wriggle, converting food scraps into healthy soil. The drawing began with a worm photoshoot in my studio. As I draw with ebony pencils I search for native worm marks and also for equilibrium, embracing imperfection and contemplating community.
